Can this be done?

Since there is no database entry for the division of 2 fields, how can I sort by the divided numbers?

Give the division a column in the result and sort by that column.

SELECT field1,field2/field3,SUM(field2),SUM(field3) FROM table GROUP BY 1,2 ORDER BY 2 DESC;

I'm not so sure about what you're asking, but....

SELECT   field1, 
         sum(field2),
         sum(field3) 
FROM     table 
GROUP BY field1 
ORDER BY (ifnull(field2,0)/field3) DESC

This will assign the value of zero to the null field, and should work for you

You guys are the best..

Its doing what it suposed to as far as the divison but the problem is its not grouping field1. Field 1 is a vharchar, feild 2 and 3 are int.

The problem I get as a result is more then 1 entry by the same field entry in the varchar. Is there a way to do this.

1. Only show 1 vharchar name (not repeated)
2. Do the math of field 1 and 2.

show I get a result of this.

name 1 24
name 2 21
name 3 20
name 4 2
name 5 1

showing highest number on top lowest number on the bottom. Using Order by is giving me mixed figures.
