Run PHP script in the background from Browser window link

Hi,

I am having a PHP script "SendEmails.php" page that send emails to users and take about 30 Minuntes time to execute. When i click on the link "SendEmails.php", i have to wait and open the browser for 30 minutes. But i do not want this. I want that after clicking this link the script start execuation and show me a message in the browser window that "script is running in the background" and i am able to click on any other link on the site. i mean not to wait the browser to end the page execuation for 30 minuntes.

Well, I think u did not understand what i mean. By using ignore_user_abort() the function only abort the user /browser effect on the script.

My browser window still fetching the PHP page for 30 minuntes. I want that after it start the script in the background, the browser window stop fetching the page so that i do not have to stop the page execuation manually or by closing the window. Just want to display message that script is running in the background and browser stop fetching the page. [browser top right animation will stop and status bar will shows done]

call ignore_user_abort(true) at the start of the script, then send all the emails. once you have this set up, simply call the script from the browser, wait a few seconds, then hit stop. the email-sending will still be happening on the server.

[edit]Ok i see.... you want PHP to shut off the browser. while impossible, you might try fiddling with some javascript in the <head> that send the user somewhere else..... like a page that tells the user that the script is running.... that would probably leave it running as it should be.

[edit2] isn't it a little lazy though if you cant be bothered to stop the script 2 seconds after you start it?

I have seen that in a Mail PHP+MYSQL free software the same feature. I do not know how they are doing it with PHP.

This will just show process is started and u have to not click the button stop.

So i think there must be some method to do this job. Can u please help me?
