PHP -Accelerator installation

hi.
i want to install php-Accelerator .
v develop browser base business software. and linux server is used for development purpose.
in this environment does php- accelerator become helpful?
as v write php code and save it in linux server ( totally development environment).
as per my knowledge php-accelerator works on cashe memory and it performs well when lots pages r re-visited frequently.

pl. share your experience and knowledge.

I haven't used it recently, but I used it a while back and was very disappointed. Not only did it NOT perform better (actually slower), it made the pages quirky and not work correctly. Not sure if it has gotten better since, but it was NOT worth it when I checked it out.

You are/will be much better served looking into the ZEND's Optimizer for better performance.
