pear DB: null values from MSSQL?

I'm using the pear DB package with MS SQL Server. First, is this the place for such questions?

I haven't found any place in the DB doc that tells me how a null value in the database gets returned to me. I don't see an isNULL() or anything like that. Suggestions?
