Can you get the name of the filed that included a file, in the included file?

or maybe this is better

Is there a way for the include-ee to know the name of the include-er

aside from setting some global var in the include-er or passing some var to a function in the include-ee with the name of the include-er ?

I guess I always assumed that php_self would refer to the 'include-er'

Assuming that the main page is doing the including, PHP_SELF will work fine. If you include a page, which includes a page, then that 3rd level page has no built in way to know who called it.
