Paths not working properly in Subdomain

Hi all:

I have a website which works fine. I have created a subdomain, test.domain.com. This subdomain points to a folder (test) within my root directory. When I create a page in the sub folder and insert an image using relative path, ie <img src=../images/hi.gif> , and upload it to the test folder on my server, the image doesn't show.
All tags are fine and the image does exist in, domain.com/images

Would you have any ideas?

i think what's happening is this; because your using test.domain.com, the server treats this as a different box to domain.com, as if it were two different machines. so if you point test.domain.com to domain.com/images, it can then only access stuff below that directory. You cannot go back and use it to access stuff higher than the images dir

Any suggestions as what to do?
I don't wanna copy all the images to the new folder, in fact I wanna use all the resources on the main domain.
