txt file

i have .txt file:

something=
blah blah blah

i need to write something after "something="

for example... i need to get this;

something=
aaaaaaa aaaaaaa aaaaaaaaa aaaaaaa aaaaaaaa
blah blah blah

I guess you could [man]fread /man the file into a $var, [man]explode/man the $var with "something=" as the separator, concatenate the new stuff on to the appropriate array element, [man]implode/man it back together, and then
[man]fwrite/man it back to the file....

But I"m the klugemaster, and there's probably a better way 😃

when you open the file using fopen() you pass the parameter:

'a+' - Open for reading and writing; place the file pointer at the end of the file. If the file does not exist, attempt to create it.

This means when you write to it the text will be put at the end, no need to get it out, re-compose then rewrite 😃

The last time that happened I stopped posting on this forum for a few months, it put me off. I don't know what was wrong with saying,

"I don't understand what you are saying could you clarify it for me?"

Actually, you could regale us with a tale of yore, I wouldn't mind.

I think the problem here is that the poster didn't want clarification; he wanted code.

I didn't give it to him, in line with the philosophy of most of the more active posters here. Occasionally we give code, more often just hints and advice. I'm kinda surprised that people interpret "here are the functions you need to complete this script" with "RTFM, noob!", but I'm still living by Weedpacket's old saying "give a man a fish..."

The fact that the OP now has working code is a testimony to the greatness of PHP and possibly his thought process also . If he'll run his typing through that process, that'd be even nicer 😉

Actually I like the method of hinting to the answer instead of actually giving hard code as a response, makes people learn it instead of COPY/PASTE and going, I"m l337! Sorry had to say it. -_-;; . Personally The help that you guys gave me a couple days back is greatly helping as I wasn't really sure what route to go with what I was doing, now I'm just trying to figure out WHAT I'm doing wrong yet lol, but I'm sure that I'll get it 😃
