Time Difference (for a Timesheep app)

Hello, (not sure if this is a purely MySQL problem, or should be done in PHP)

I've been asked to make an app that will allow the employees here to sign-in and sign-out and then list to the secretary how many hours they've worked etc.

If I have a record as below:

RecordID     Username     Signed_In                  Signed_Out
1293         jsmith       2003-11-25 09:01:35        2003-11-25 17:05:00

How can I calculate the time difference between the Signed_In and Signed_Out DateTime fields and output the result to the page? In this case the hours worked are 8 hours, 3 minutes, and 25 seconds.

If you have the right version, you could use timediff(). Look here for the functions

Hey LordShryku,

I saw that function but it is for mysql 4.1.1. I checked with my hosting account and it's only 4.0.15 Stable.

Is there another way to calculate the difference?

Hrmmm....have you tried a simple math function?

SELECT (Signed_Out - Signed_In) 
FROM table
