AFAIK, sledgehammers do a pretty good job of cutting up wood 😃

how the HELL does that work.........

Well, if you want to cut wood with a 'sledgehammer', you'd need some wedges; or, you could get a half-sledgehammer/half-axe tool which around here is known as a "splitting maul".

Of course, Merve's taken us on a tangent again; ahundiak's post was regarding "green metal fenceposts" which are commonly known as "T-posts" and an axe doesn't do much but get dull chopping on them. Come to think of it, a sledgehammer would bounce most of the time, and if you had 'nuff gumption to "demolish" said T-post, it'd still be a big hunk of metal that would be more of a pedestrian/vehicle hazard than ever.

Of course, the EL's the place for tangents, right?

'twas what I meant. Do they seriously have mechanical chainsaws?

            Mechanical? A la, it's a machine?

My Homelite runs on gas+oil mixture. An "engine". That's a machine, right?

My dad-in-law and my good friend "K" have STIHL saws that sound louder and cut faster. So they're 'supermachines', I guess. That's what they say, anyway, when they cut an 8x8 seasoned oak timber faster than I can....

Well, you can get petrol ones can't you?

(please bear in mind that I've operated, let alone owned a chainsaw)

Did you mean to put 'never' in that sentence?

Americans refer to petrol as gas, short for gasoline. Saying 'gasoline' is more common here in Canada, as we know that gas is one of the four states of matter 😃 and not a liquid.
