How to take payments and add to database

Hey all,

I would like to start taking creditcard payments on a new website I am creating. I want to have nothing to do with the credit card details, but I want to beable to acknowledge the amount my customer has paid and if it was sucessfull. Any ideas or has anybody got a similar sort of system?

If you are ever looking to do something, check out www.hotscripts.com. They will usually have something close to what you want to do, and since it's open source you can see how they did certain things that you might be stuck on. It's a great way to learn.

Another way would be to do a search on this site. It's been asked a few times before.
