Turning .php code into readable text

I have a new problem and this time I have no idea where to begin.
I am working on a site for a client and what my job to do it to turn the code of an include file into readable text.

For example I am on the web trying to debug this problem, the only thing is that I can't change the code, I am talking someone else through it, I can only read the code he has done. Once again this is only an example.

I need to display a .php file as normal text using an include ('yourfile.php');

I am probably no explaining this well I'll try to answer your questions if you are willing to help. Any input can help.

You won't get far using include() as PHP will try running the included file. Just treat it as a text file and use the ordinary file operations. To display it, use htmlspecialchars() and echo it between <pre> tags, or use [man]highlight_string[/man] (or [man]highlight_file[/man]) to get a syntax-highlighted version.
