i want to change my user name in PHP Builder Community Forums ??? i have chaged my name amit to om prakash. how can i do this?? can any guy help me??

IIRC, this question was asked by someone about a year ago. The only way for someone to change their name is to get one of the admins to do it. The problem with that is that if it's done for one person, it would have to be done for anyone and since there are approx 40,000 users, you would probably need another member of staff just to deal with all the requests.

IMO, the easiest way would be to just create another user.

i joined here just 2-3 days before the forums were shifted to vB 🙂 all previous users were pre-registered 🙂

50,000/365 = 137
i doubt even /. gets 137 new ppl signing up daily with them.
not uncommon for site like hotornot.com which gains sudden popularity.
but for a programmers only site, and specially those of php, I am sure 137 new users daily will be a big figure.

That's only if you count the past year. You'd need to do the math from the beginning for it to be accurate

I don't think everyone was pre-registered, cos I tried to register piersk on the old one (a few days before the transfer) and I couldn't, so I tried again after the transfer and I got it.

I was also saying that if we assume that figure is of just past 1 year, the people registering daily comes out to be pretty large, hence should have been since long ago.

as far as i know, about one week after the board was started, all people who had registered again (during this week) had their accounts merged with old ones.

If you really want to change your username, get a new account. I guess quite a few of the people on this board like their name the way it is, or they'd be posting threads like this :p. Besides, think of what would happen. Some people might keep changing their username over and over again. It's one of the only things that never changes on this board! Some people might put 4 exclamation marks at the beginning of their name to make it appear at the top of the list! Imagine exclamation mark battles! You could get hundreds of exclamation mark dud usernames at the top of the list. I guess you should stick with 'amit'. Who cares if it's a common name; you can laugh at everybody else who tries to register 'amit'! 😃

amit is short one, will look good too.

(though I was also planning to change my name from jayant to some bugger 10 letter one, 3 months down the line 🙂)
