mailto: multiple recipients

I have a variable

$recipients="[e-mail],[e-mail],[e-mail]"

I echo this out as so

echo "<a href='mailto:$recipients?subject=test'>email all</a>";

When I click the link it opens my default browser (Outlook Express) with each recipient in the to field.

However other users are reporting doing this throws the error ... default client cannot be found.

This is happening across multiple machines even when upgraded to OE6.

Funny thing is that everything appears to work if there are no hyphens in any of the domain names .... my guess is the hyphens are somehow breaking this action.

Doing some more research it only seems to affect windows 98 sysyems

can anyone shed light on this and help me solve the issue?

I do not know how to solve your problem, but you should look into using an email form verse's the mailto action. With the mailto people who use aol, excite, yahoo, and many other email programs will not be able to email. Also spam bots will be able to harvest the email address in your mailto action.

I have already created many bespoke email forms ... this particular function is for a private control panel. The end users wants to be able to import the email addresses of his resellers into OE
