Associate numbers with words

Hi!

I know i can do this with Access but with mySQL ???

Here's what i'm trying to do :

Table NAME

1-Client
2-Member

3-Administrator

Table PROFIL

1-1
2-1
3-3
4-2
5-3
6-3
7-2
8-1
9-2

10-1

Now, when i do a query, is there possible to automatically associate a number from table PROFIL with his description name from table NAME?

What do the numbers in PROFIL mean? I'm thinking this is probably a simple join. No clue what your fields are, but something like

SELECT n.user_id,
       n.user_profile,
       p.somefield
FROM   NAME n, PROFIL p
WHERE  n.user_id = p.user_id

here's the situation,

i've got 4 types of user : client, admin, reseller and webmaster in a table column name Type and his associate number in a column name NUM :

NAME

0 - client
1 - admin
2 - reseller

3 - webmaster

and in another table PROFIL, i've got all the user info, like phone, email, address, zip code, ...

Each user is associate with is type category so, if a user is a RESELLER, his associate number is 2

Now, i've got a page that display all the user info. When i display these info, in the field TYPE OF USER, i've got "2" but what i need to have is "Reseller"

You have a couple options.
1) Join the tables like I showed you above. Though, this could just be overkill, because
2) If these options never change, this could better be done by php in a switch statement or an array.
