How do i monitor my isitors countries

I would like to know how i can see from which country my visitors come from. I couldnt find anything in phpinfo(); but maybe there is an other way to get to know this information.

This code gives you an accurate reading

  $ip = $HTTP_SERVER_VARS['REMOTE_ADDR'];
  $handle = fopen('http://ip-to-country.directi.com/country/code3/'.$ip, 'r');
  $country = fgets($handle, 4096);

Thx for your answere, but actually i was looking for something else. Because no i relay on someone else his server. And at the moment that server doesnt work.

Isnt there a way that you can c wot language the operating system of the use is?

You're going to need to connect to another server to get the information you want regardless because there is no way of looking at an IP address and working out which country it applies to; IPs are assigned by various registries around the world. (A list of which registries administer which blocks of IP address is maintained by the IANA, but that list will only give you the right continent at best - you would still need to actually look the registry up for more detail.)

That said, a search of these forums for the words "country" and "IP" will produce some alternative solutions to the one already given.

For your other question (about user's OS), there is the value of $_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']. But, like anything else that comes from the client, it's not 100% guaranteed to be true.

Im sorry, i didnt ask the question right. I ment, is it possible to find out the language of the users operating system. Maybe its possible to get a code like 'EN' for engish, and 'ES' for spanish, and so on.
