Undefined Variable

Hey all I got a lil problem with undefined variable errors on my new PHP install

Server Setup:
OS: Windows 2000
SERVER: IIS 5
PHP: 4.3.4
MYSQL: 4

I am creating a Shoutbox system cos the Web froot one is ennoying me and the others are crap.

Basically any time I say $variable it comes up with the problem and I dont know why because on my web hosting it dosent and the globals are on.

Can any one suggest a reason why its bringing up these errors when I use a variable?

This happens when you use a variable and it doesn't yet have a value. If you're using register_globals and $variable is a form variable, you'll get this if the corresponding form field was not filled in.

You should check that variables have values before using them, by means of functions like isset() or empty().
