ordering items by the menu....

I want to have a menu - with up and down arrows so that my client when editing their top news stories can change the sort order of them. So if they want to move story 1 to the position of story six they can highlight the option and click the down arrow a few times, hope that makes sense.

I need to know how to get the value of each item to change when to whatever position it is in, I can handle the submitting bit. Anyone know? Thanks.

put a field into your news table as news_order,

then your users can update the order using a form.

I'm not sure how you would do it using arrows - to tired to think right now

I have found that actually - which does what I want - I need to get it to insert the right sort order number into the right table row though :S any ideas?
