Generating web content out of pdf or word files!

Hi,

a custumer of mine wants to upload his pdf, and word files onto his webserver. the content of those files should be shown in the browser without needing acrobat reader or something like that.

is it possible with php to get the content auf of pdf or word files and to view them as regular webpages?

PHP Manual PDF Functions

This is probably not a Newbie's caliber post. There are some commercial libraries that will transform PDF text into XML, etc. I googled a few news group posts here and there as well. If you plan on rendering HTML with graphics via PDF files, it appears to get a bit more difficult still. Please write an article when you're done as this could be interesting.😃

I think your best tool right now is sheer determination coupled with a good search engine. Unless someone else out there has any suggestions?
