I have a mysql table tblemployee, the structure is as follows

empno int(1)
empname varchar(20)
empsal varchar(50)

and the data is as follows

empno empname empsal

1 sureshbabu 1234
2 rajeshbabu 456
3 satishbabu 3456
4 pramodbabu

5 kiran kumar 242
6 vinay kumar 8888
7 prasanna k 2345

i have to display the empname in assending order of their salaries

how can i write the mysql query

From tblemployee
Order By empsal ASC

Why is salary varchar? Well with varchar this will not work, you need to convert it into int.

Possibly something like this should work

Select empname
From tblemployee
Order By Conv(empsal,10,10) ASC

select empsal from tblemployee order by CAST(empsal AS SIGNED) ASC;
