Jargon buster needed urgently!

There's a job going in my area that requires SQL DBA focused around version 7. The also want the candidate to have experience of TSQL.

I haven't got a clue what these things are and an initial search on Google has uncovered no answers.

Does anyone know what the above things are (and is it a complete waste of time for a PHP/MySQL guy to apply for this job)????

Not sure about the TSQL part, but the first bit (I think) is that they are looking for a DataBase Administrator who knows stuff about MS SQL server version 7.

TBH, if you can't understand what they're talking about, it's probably best not to try for the job.

Yes indeed.

As soon as I posted the thread I suddenly realised that DBA must be database administration (duh!).

I'll hang tough and see if anyone knows what the other things are, but I definately take your point.

Yeah, the "version 7" part is a pretty heavy hint that they're into MS SQL Server 'round there (SQL Server 7 as it happens, rather than 2000 or whathaveyou). Now, either this was a bit of a test to see if you knew your DBMSs or they don't actually realise that Microsoft isn't the only software manufacturer on Earth.

I once had an employment agency say the following to me:

Do you have experience with MSQL 7. I replied no but I have experience with MS SQL 2000, Oracle, Sybase, MySQL and Access. They said I'm sorry but if you don't know MSQL 7 you're not qualified. So I called back an hour later answered yes to the question and got the job. After getting the job I informed the employer of this and there were most gracious as they changed to an IT specialized employment agency.
