extract links from HTML source

i would like to extract all the links from html source. whole html is in a varible $x. i have searched all the forum but i havent found any useful solution. keep in mind that some <a href tags can have other parameters, like <a class=red href='.....'

with ', with " or without anything. maybe i should just look for [url]http://[/url] string somehow?

can anyone post a solution here? probably something with ereg thing?

Try this, it seemed to work for me to etract all the links I just need a more robust expression for my situation:

$pattern1 = "|href=[\"'](.*)[\"' >]|Ui";
preg_match_all($pattern1, $src, $matches);
print_r($matches);

$src should be your html src.
