The php comes installed already in the OS. The apache installation doesn't have php running by default, so I figured out how to fix that. The php.ini was no big deal for what I have been doing, but needed it for some new things I'm working on with a friend.
TBH, I don't own a Mac. I've never used a Mac for anything (although I think I played Sims on one once). I just got those links from searching on google.
If you have a php.ini, why not just edit that?
