PHP mail vs. Hotmail

I have been trying to setup a page that sends a mail from a website using PHP. It seems to work fine until I send it to hotmail. I have looked through the threads here and am still struggling. I know I am likely missing something simple or just not seeing what I am doing wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

In the two header lines
$headers .= "From: Your Friend <$from_email>\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: SITE <[e-mail]>\n";

try quoting the name part so it will be

$headers .= "From: \"Your Friend\" <$from_email>\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: \"SITE\" <[e-mail]>\n";

also, all your header fields should have '\r\n' after them instead of just '\n' per rfc standards. i think part of hotmail's efforts to reduce spam, they filter messages with poor rfc headers due to the fact that many spammers use spoofed and/or bad headers.

It is always slow sending mail to Hotmail accounts especially using a server Hotmail has never encounted before. New Hotmail Spam algorithms means if its not from a known server it goes to the Junk Mail folder, check in here!

I tried changing my code to comply with RFC standards, but still no luck.

It always ends up in the Junk Mail folder.

Is there a way I can specify a mail server that hotmail will not consider spam???
