I am currently seeking a new webhost. I am a freelance software/web developer
with my firm Star.Box Consulting (http://www.stardotbox.com). For the past
two years I have been working with PHPWebHosting (http://www.phpwebhosting.com/).
I have also helped many of my clients set up their webhosting services with
PHPWebHosting. As of late their service has been less than reliable. Normally
this wouldn't bother me as I know circumstances arise when hardware fails and
software crashes. Unfortunately PHPWebHosting has no method of contact via
phone. In the past they have been fast to reply with their online system.
As of late this has not been the case. Systems have failed, maintenance has
occurred during peak hours and they have been anything but prompt in informing
me of what is occurring. Days go by with support requests placed with no
response etc.
In short, they've pissed me off.
I am seeking a webhost who can offer me the following services:
• PHP
• MySQL (at least 5 databases create/droppable by me at any time)
• Apache with mod_rewrite enabled
• Wildcard DNS
• Parked Domains (if there are fees please specify)
• Webmail or at the least the access to implement my own system
• SSH access
• Multiple FTP accounts
• 100mb+ storage
• 5-10gb transfer/month
Ideally the hosting should be $20 or less per month.
I am going on the hunt online and will be mailing this request to many
webhosts. I have briefly checked out http://www.tophosts.com.
Does anyone here know of a hosting service such as this? If so who are
they and what has your experience been with them? Any replies would be
greatly appreciated.
