globals

Hi, I'm a designer with little knowledge of programming but still, sometime ago i did some php sites one of them was a shopping cart site.

All this sites were done assuming that register globals was "on" but now i need to change those sites to another hosting which has register globals "off".

Can anyone explain in theory what's the difference in practical use, what do i need to change and why if possible?
