image resize

Ok, I have a gaming website at http://www.gameworldx.com. I have links to over 400 games. Users have emailed me saying they want me to put up image previews of the games. I decided I am going to do that. Now, on the page that lists the games, the image will probably be 100x75 (4:3). On the page with the game information, the image will either be 160x120 or 200 x 150, i havent decided yet, but both are still 4:3 ratio. Do I need to use php to resize the images if the ratio of width to height are the same?

Also, I dont know how the image resize works, but I should probably upload the pictures with the biggest dimensions I plan on using to get the best quality, correct?

Pretty much; upload a big image and resize it at the same time; store both large and small versions.

You can use a single huge image and put smaller dimensions in the HTML but (a) the browser will probably do a worse job of resizing it than GD_Lib, and (b) the user will have to download all of these big images just to see the thumbnails.
