Session cookie lifetime

Hi All,

I've been trying to get to grips with the Session options. There's an option 'session.cookie_lifetime'. The description for this setting in php.ini says that when this is set to zero that the cookie lasts until the browser is restarted. However, it seems that the cookie lasts until ALL instances of the browser are closed and that all instances of the browser share the same session cookie, which is actually causing me a headache! Is this how is supposed to be or am I doing something wrong??

Yes. If a session is created in browser window 1 and there's additional windows open, the session will remain available in the other windows (assuming it doesn't time out - 0 would mean the time out takes place when the browser (including all windows) has shut down).

I've seen IE for PC do wacky things with sessions depending on how much RAM memory you have and how much of it was being used before you opened a new IE window.
