Debian & LAMP + SSL.

Hello,
After a week of banging my head against the wall trying to install:
Solaris 2.8 (with /dev/random patch on Spark)
Apache 1.3.28 / mod_ssl 2.8.15-1.3.28
Mysql 3.23.53
PHP 4.3.4
++ Openssl 0.9.7c
I've found not a single person who has gotten it to work sucessfully. (There are a few web pages, AMPS for example, but they fail to work.) Despite multiple itterations and approaches PHP and SSL both fail. Further I've gotten no hits on any PHP or Sun lists. This leads me to think that it is way to hard for what its worth.
At this point I'm tossing the box and moving to Linux. Is the Debian or other freeware version stable or do I need to move to Red Hat. If so, what versions of software are currently viable?

Use FreeBSD man.

If you MUST use linux, I'd go with Gentoo or debian. Red Hat is for little kids.

As far as "software", I'm not sure exactly what you mean, Regarding AMP stuff, I'm running Apache 2.0.48, PHP 4.3.4, MySQL 4.0.16 just swimmingly on FreeBSD (4.9-RELEASE). (Would that be "FAMP"? 🙂 )
