Can I make "closed" language using PHP syntax ?

We are designing an Open GL / Direct X based browser plugin and we are to
have scripting language in it as well. Our format won't be open source and
we are interested if we can still use PHP syntax as our scripting language
simply because we want PHP programmers to adapt to it quickly. We are
thinking of incorporating a few other languages as well. Is this safe to do
? Can we be sued or anything like that ?

www.php.net should have their license agreement post which should give you some insite on use. For any properitary stuff in which you develop, i'd recommend checking with a lawyer on the matter to make sure you're not violating any copyrights, patents, etc....

considering that basic php syntax is c syntax is java syntax I don't think you'll run into any issues as long as your underlying code is your own.
