WAP color images - Is there a way?

I've been researching wbmp, but is there a way to display color images on devices? I'm sure I've seen them in action, so...

I want to begin looking into this and would appreciate someone pointing me in a direction. My searches have been fruitless so far.

More modern phones, such as the SE T610, will display JPEG and GIF format images.

I know the T610 handles those but your milage may vary regarding other phones (I don't see why they shouldn't display them though - assuming they have a colour display, of course 🙂)
