[Resolved] MySQL LIKE function

I have something like this

select name="region" id="region">
	  	  <option value="%">Provincial</option>
          <option value="C">South Shield</option>
          <option value="D">Northwest Boreal</option>
          <option value="F">Central Boreal</option>
          <option value="G">East Boreal</option>
        </select>

and my query string is like:

$query = "SELECT * FROM ".$product.", Stations WHERE (".$product.".FMFP_ID=Stations.FMFP_ID) AND (Stations.grp LIKE '%".$region."%') ORDER by 'grp','pos'";

Now this works fine as it stands, but I want to change things so South Shield consists of regions A and B and C, and Northwest Boreal consists of D and E. What do I need to put in the option value"" to make this happen? Thanks.

So you want to view all records that have a 'grp' of A, B or C if South Shield is selected, and all records that have a 'grp' of D or E if Northwest Boreal is selected?

In your <option> statement, change the value to "'A','B','C'" and "'D','E'". Then, in your query where you have the LIKE statement, substitute it for the following:

AND (Stations.grp IN(" . stripslashes($region) . "))

The LIKE statement is good is you're searching parts of strings, but I think in this instance that the IN statement works better.
