Can anyone tell me that MySQL database can support and handle (easily) upto how many records.

also what other databse php handles and supports in good way (performance wise) besides MySQL

PHP has support for almost every popular database out there. Personally, I use PHP in conjunction with MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle. Look here for the first question.
