I figured it needed a rewrite. Then I decided, nah.
Okay, there was this thread. You'll noticed it was answered in less than half an hour later. You'll also notice that there was never any response to the reply (which is a pity, because a more appropriate function to refer to would have been mkdir; I didn't see the original thread at the time).
the next day the same poster asked exactly the same question in exactly the same forum. I listed at least three links (including one to [man]mkdir[/man], one to the post mentioned above (which I had found by using the search page), and one to the forum's search page) and asked if the poster was actually capable of thinking these things through at all.
Well, this person did not like that at all. Asked me if I was God, and said I was "nothing but a great Fool". And then said goodbye.
So I replied
No [I'm not God]; around here that would be jstarkey, I'm just one of his assistants. If you have a problem with that, take it up with him.
If the OP was interested in making any sort of complaint, I provided the means.
A day or so later (with not a single PM from user #1) no_maam chimes in, telling me to relax and suggesting that jstarkey wouldn't have made me one of his assistants without asking "us" (for some unspecified value of "us") first.
So all in all the thread was content-free, and definitely "problematic" in the language of the abuse reporting page, so after mulling the matter for a couple of days I took the (for me, unprecedented) move of summarily deleting it. Note that since the original post was a duplicate of an earlier one made by the same poster the day before, nothing was lost beyond the name-calling. Why or where no_maam got the idea to make an issue of the deletion in this forum beats me.
