searchable pages

I apologize if this is in the wrong place, I was wondering if it is possible to have a bunch of html pages be searchable without php. Any ideas help on this would be great.

"Searchable without PHP" - what do you mean? Searchable by a search engine? Or searchable by an internal CGI or script on the web server? Basically, what are you looking for?

Thanks for taking the time but I am pretty sure you can't do what i am looking for. After I thought about it, I would need some script that would do this for me.

Basically I want to search multiple html pages that I created using a keyword search. So if I type in the word "car" hit send it would pull up all instances of that. I would normally use PHP for this but for this particular project it will be going on a cd. Maybe there is something in javascript i can look up.

If you know of a way of accomplish this, than great but I am pretty sure it can't be done with just straight html. Any other suggestions would be helpful though,

If its going to be on a CD, then you're going to actually need an application that runs off that machine.

JavaScript has the ability to search A page, but not multiple pages.

You might be able to get the job done with Java. But you'll need to figure out how you want to handle getting Java installed if the user doesn't have it (and you'd have to create an actual Java app, not an applet that runs in a browser since the applet's sandbox doesn't allow it to read/write to disk the last time I remember).
