French Characters

One of my PHP scripts captures the data from a html-form, and puts it into a Mysql db. When entering French characters straight into the db, there is no problem. However, when visitors enter French characters in the form, these characters are mangled by the PHP-script. Does anybody know the solution for this?

Have you specified a character set to be used in the encoding, and is the specification consistent between those apps that have to handle the data?

I think [man]htmlentities[/man] is the function that you need. Remember also to convert the characterset to the one that supports the french chars
