I hear that RedHat is getting rid of the free stuff and focusing on Enterprise.
What Linux should I move to next?
Please give opinions and reasons.

Useage: Small server, development.

is this your server or are you using a virtual host?

Just recently, progeny has announced that they will continue to support RH8/RH9 users for $5 month per machine.

if you are using a virtual, shared host, it's the hosts job to keep up with maintenance.

Excuse me? SuSE is the next move! :p Anywho, it is up to you really. If you don't feel comfortable with Debian or SuSE or whatever else, you won't be able to set it up correctly to use as a webserver.

I think maybe you believe what you read a little too much. Maybe you should stop reading so many articles, and start testing them yourself....

I just like people know that I am not simply spouting something out, but have stuff to back up my claims. And I dont like forceing opinions on others simple pointing them in the right direction. 🙂

There is some considerable "rumoring" or "groundswell" that would suggest that the next top of the line Linux will be the Gentoo distro. But there are so many distros that it's nearly impossible to A/B them all, as you'd have to go through the alphabet what, 40 times?

Most regulars here know that I'm with stolzyboy on this one. :-)

Heck, it's my desktop OS now, too (though I've a KVM with a Winbox for client support).

As for the BSD/Linux wars, the real enemy is neither 😃
