add_date problem

hi all,

i just wonder why this does not work?

SELECT act_time, username, ADDDATE(act_time, INTERVAL 20 MINUTE) as newtime FROM tablename WHERE id='2'

there is no error msg, but mysql keep on giving "NULL " value as newtime,

btw act_time is a "datetime" type column.

any help?

I'd think you'd use addtime instead of adddate
