I am looking for information about good affiliate software.

I am looking for B2B affiliate and B2C affiliate program. Also both plug in or Hosting on Affiliate service site approaches are OK. Commercial or Freeware are fine too.

I would like to be able to do following things for my clients depends on their requests.

plug in third party software or connect our shopping cart to the affiliate service hosting site.

Custom develop affiliate program (either b2b, or b2c) for the clients based on some easy to modify sample codes.

So any information can help me to do above tasks are welcome.

I should make my questions more specific.

I am looking for Per Sale Affiliate program, not for "per click".

I want to track, pay, adjust the commission based on the acutal sales (referred by affiliate sites). So it is an affiliate program has to work with my shopping cart and work with the payment site responses.

this does it.
1. what happens is when a user comes to your site by clicking a banner with the affilitate id it sets a cookie on the user machine with the affiliate id.
2. after your order is processed i assume your merchant will redirect to a thankyou page on your server along with order details through a POST or GET.
3. the thankyou page on your server will have a link to a blank image on affiliate clicks along with the order amount etc as parameters

It depends. Some will be like this. Some will be a background page listen to the response from the payment site server.

Some affiliate use this approach

Affiliate program itself has its own database for the affiliate and for the orders information (duplicated).
When the shopper sending order (products, amounts) information to a payment site. The affiliate program takes the same information at the same time, with the additional information such as affiliate id etc.
There is a listen page to update the order process status automatically or maually after the payment processed, such as failed or successful, or captured or cancelled etc.

I would prefer to work with this kind system, but I am open to all good affiliate programs choices. what are your opinions?

Anyone else have some other good affiliate service (hosting on the affiliate service site) to recommend? In terms of the price, features and the most important, service quality.

I would like to recommend at least top 5 to top 10 affiliate for our clients to choose from.

By the way, does anyone run into this situation, you stop the affiliate service from one company and want to transfer the affiliate database from the old one to another one, will it be possible?
