Hi!

I have a project idea... here it is:

I want to build a small CMS (content management system) but i suck at coding! ...so I thought that if a few people teamed up we could build one together. I am more into graphics but I really want to learn and i do understand a little bit of php-coding.

I know...there are a lot of systems out there all ready, but I want to build a custom one.

Features:

Articles where you can include images by browsing them up into the document. Ability to set start and stoptime. Ingress and full article.
Poll
Customizable frontpage
Company/person presentation where every person/employee have their own page.
Forum
Login - Restricted area. Ability to choose if people can sign up by themselves or if admin will set up an account.
...and a lot more.

Why do you want to create your own when there are projects available for you to tap into?

Have you visited http://www.opensourcecms.com ?

These are gpl projects. You'd be better to go with something like PHP-Nuke, PostNuke or e107 and concentrate on just building the addons.

I have used PHP-Nuke, Post Nuke, e107, Angeline, Geeklog, Xoops, LDU, and a few more...I want to make my own because these systems are sort of limited to customize. Also because i think it would be a great experience.

I like to experiment with themes and layout.

Maybe all this was a bad idea from the beginning!

Not necessarily 😃

But it's alot of work and you need to have a really good concept, goals etc before you start.

I guess if you'd stated them it would have been clearer that you were experienced and did know what you were doing.
