anyone know how to add a directory via php?

I know how to make a new file but I don't know how to make a directory... This is what I have for a new file, if you can, make this so it makes a new directory please...

		$newfilename=$myrow["username"];
$newfilename=$newfilename.".php";
					$newfilename=ereg_replace(" ","_",$newfilename);
					$location=pathinfo($_SERVER["SCRIPT_FILENAME"]);
					$location=$location["dirname"];

I dont understand do you want the folder name the same as the username

look mate people on here do so either to ask questions or to help; those asking questions (ie you) do so to complete a task etc, those helping (us) do it completely voluntarily. cause it's nice getting some appreciation. Anyway it may pay to
umask(0000);
before mkdir($location, 0777);
the default umask is not 0000 which means you get 0755 not 0777 if you just mkdir with 0777. On my setup anyway.
