I want to know how many time a file is downloaded on my server.

I have a normal link when you click on it you can download the file. How can I call a php function when clicking on link to
increment by 1 the number of download count?

My problem is not the code to increment but the code to call the function....

open a php script in a new window.

at the top of the script, have the code to increment the number of hits. Then either user [man]header[/man] to redirect the browser to the file, or out put the header rows for that file type, read in the file and then output the file to the browser
