!preg_match ... ???

i'm having some problems getting a preg_match to work and i just can't figure this...either i'm completely wrong in my approach or i'm missing some minutae...

i'm trying to simply grab the contents of a directory and then only show the files that have any kind of php extension...if i take out "if/else (!preg..." statement it shows me all the files in the directory no problem...i just can't figure out how (or the best method) to display on the files that have a .php extension at the end (maybe i should use substr?)...

$directory = "$path";
$directory_stream = @ opendir($directory);
while ($filename = readdir($directory_stream)){
if (!preg_match("/php/i", $filename) { echo ""; } else { 
echo ?>

<div>some code things in there...> 
<?php print_r($filename); ?></div>

<?php } } ?>

yeah, if you're just looking for .php extensions, substr should do the trick for ya

i wasn't thinking when i said that...substr wouldn't match anything up...i need .php files...

actually, if i simply use...

$filename = preg_match("/php/i", $filename);

when it prints out all i get is 1's and 0's...

it's clear it's printing out some kind of true and false scenarios, but how do i get just the filenames instead? well, i am printing the filenames and i'm still getting 1's and 0's...hmmm...v

Like I said, if you're just looking for .php files, substr will work.

while($filename = readdir($directory_stream)) {
   if(substr(strtolower($filename),-3) == "php") {
      // It's a PHP file
   }
   else {
      // It's not
   }
}
