[Resolved] A Better Way

Ok, I have a form for new user to fill out to get an account. When they fill it out there is the normal things like User Name, Password, etc. the stumper is the Location. I have a code set up for the DB, for example:

AL00 - Alabama
AK00 - Alaska
AZ01 - Arizona, Tucson
AZ02 - Arizona, Phoenix
AZ00 - Arizona, Other Areas
AR00 - Arkansas
CA01 - California, Los Angeles Area
CA02 - California, Orange County
CA03 - California, Sacramento
CA04 - California, San Diego
CA05 - California, San Francisco Bay Area
CA00 - California, Other Areas
CO00 - Colorado
CT00 - Connecticut

When the user click submit it brings them to the next page and show all the information they entered and a welcome message. But when I print the location it prints as AL00 for Alabama. I know I can nest if statements for that if location = AL00 print Alabama. But is there a better way. My location list is world wide and that will be a lot of code if I nest it. Any ideas, suggestions, or pointers out there.

As the HTML-Select field only supports one value to submit, there are two ways I can imagine, one of those I do not like but is maybe the only solution in some (very few) cases.

The easy way:
In your select-tags put the option tags like:
<option value='AL00:Alabama'>Alabama</option>
If the select field is calles $sel, you can easy get both values with
$parts = explode(":", $sel);
and $parts[0] is now your country-code and $parts[1] is the string to show for it.
Of course you can replace the ":" with any sign you like more. And what you do with $parts is your choice.
The (not so good) way:
Use Javascript. You include an <input type='hidden'> field in your form and in the select-field you include a javascript function onchange='change(whatever)' to change the value of your hidden value field to the string that should be shown.

Thank you so much for the help, I went with the first option. It works great, although still a pain to fix my list to equal the Code:State, but it is much faster then the way I was first going to do it with the if statments. Thank you again.
