Connection error

How do I get rid of this error?:

I cannot connect to the database because: Too many connections

on every page that I connect to the db, should I then disconnect from it at the bottom of the script? On some of my pages I have mysql_close($dblink); at the bottom to disconnect from it. Is this correct?

I've seen this before. Shure you don't have the connect inside a loop or something?

Post some code, perhaps.

Yeah, I'm sure I don't have the connect statement within a loop. I just use an include statement at the top to connect to the db, but no loops.

It is up and running now. I believe the NOC was actually performing maintanence on the servers while I was trying to access and they had it blocked for the time being.

The error message "I cannot connect to the database because: Too many connections " does not mean that the server is down and thus you can't connect to the database it means "TOO MANY" people are connected to the database...

Do you share a MySQL server with other people at your hosting provider?

If you see this call your hosting provider and ask the "what the hell"!
