Order By

I looked on PHP.net and MySQL.com for the different types of ORDER BY. If you can tell me that wold be very appreciative. Thank you. I am looking for an ORDER BY the orders the stuff by numbers where the highest number is show first kinda like

4
3
2
1

because right now it is like

1
2
3
4
5

with a normal ORDER BY, well thank you and have a merry Christmas.

An example of what i use in my forums i created is this:

$query_view = "SELECT * FROM forum ORDER BY id desc";

its displays the forum entries in descending order
