PHP and WebServer

Hi all,

I'm building my own version of webserver on which i'm trying to support PHP.I can able to execute and display PHP scripts..but my problem is when i do back or forward in the browser..i'm not getting the exceuted script or previous page..instead i get the php script code getting displayed in the browser(The same php code wprks with IIS without any problems).How to resolve this?Am i wrong anywhere?

Well; it looks like your server is still unreliable at recognising requests for PHP scripts and sometimes doesn't pass them on to PHP.

There is a mistake in my question and let me explain now my problem more clearly.

I did'nt get the PHP code getting displayed instead the executed HTML code.

I'm trying out a webmail with index.php as the index page.

When I open a new browser and connect to localhost i get 3 requests on my webserver as(simplified)

1)GET / User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Host: localhost

2)GET /themes/default/webmail.css User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Host: localhost

3)GET /images/logo.gif User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Host: localhost

when i do refresh the same page i get only the first request as

GET / User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Host: localhost

So the web server does executes the index php page and sends the html code to the browser.,since the webserver doesnt get any requests after this the html code is getting displayed on the browser.

Please help...

Just wild guessing here...

Part of me is thinking the browser is caching the image and the css file. Although I would have figured the browser made the request and the web server would have responded with a 304 message (I think thats it - file not modified I think is the message). But I don't know how your web server is handling cached content.

Second thought is if the HTML code is being displayed in the browser (but not actually being interpretted), then there may be an issue with the content type. You may want to look at the headers that you web server are sending back. I'd wonder if no header is being sent and IE is defaulting to text mode.

Third thought is get a second opinion with another browser flavor. I see you're using IE. You might check with Mozilla, Firebird, or Opera and see if they have the same problem. Mozilla (and I think Firebird) has a plugin available called "Live HTTP Headers" which you may find very valuable for testing. Or if you have a packet sniffer, that would work too, but packet sniffers require a bit of work to dig out the headers from all the other packet traffic.

Actually... I was just thinking about this. Cancel my first idea in my last post.

You're only going to see 1 GET request because the HTML is not being interpretted as HTML and therefore the browser doesn't know there's a CSS and image file it most go and retrieve. Therefore, the browser is only going to send the one request (the request for HTML).

Everything (back or forawrd or refresh) works fine from Mozilla firebird.But still i couldnt able to fix it in IE.

You clear the cache in IE?
