[Resolved] [Resolved] executing shell commands

hi everyone,
i am creating a fe for cron.everything works fine except that for the system() command.( the most important part of my code)

system("crontab /tmp/crontab.tmp/");
</snip>
any help on why its refusing 2 execute would be greatly appreciated.

That would create a crontab entry for whatever user the webserver runs as. If the webserver user doesn't have permissions to use cron (or hasn't got a shell defined, which is normal) then the crontab command will fail.

Is the command failing to run at all, or does it run and produce an error?

Well the crontab does nothing, no errors r produced and it refuses 2 run as well🙁

Actually, there are 2 parts :
The user fills out a form in part one.
These values r passed and stored in the crontab.tmp file in part 2.
Then this file is passed to crontab.

As of now, all values r getting updated to crontab.

I thought of adding a chmod() to grant all permissions but am not sure if its safe.

hi,
this fe will be used for admin purposes.
so there will be access to shell
my prob is that the cmd is not getting executed in the shell when given from the php script
