How to get the size of a text?

I am new in php. I have some record (text record) in my database. I would like to know if there is any function to get the size of the selected record in byte?

I think you're looking for strlen.

yeah strlen is what you want, it basically counts the number of characters which equal to the size in bytes, so the word "boat" is 4 bytes since its four characters 😉
