I'm not a WAP expert nor have I played with it, but WAP push appears to be a way to send an SMS message to a phone, but the difference is the message header includes a link to the actual content. So the WAP push message (or the first SMS message) just sends a redirect link to the phone. The phone then prompts the user if they want to follow the link. If they do, the link will point to a WAP content server and the user can download the content or view it depending on the flavor.
Thats my take on it. From the looks of it, its like me sending you an email with a link to a 20mb video. I didn't send you an email with the 20mb video because:
- thats a lot of video to be sending to you especially if I have to send to multiple friends
- what if you don't have storage in your email for that 20mb video?
- what if you just don't want to watch a 20mb video?
So if I send you a link, you can decide if you want to follow it or not.
