Layers

I currently have a layer for my main posting sections on my webpage (http://clani69.digitalops.com/temp/chris/index.php (disregard all the mistakes; website more than a week old)). If someone viewing the page has a resolution other than 1024x768, the layer seems to be misplaced. Is there any way to "lock" the layer into place or is there a good replacement for the layer?

I currently have the objects surrounding the layer in a table, but using another table where the layer is moves my objects on the right.

Your web server isn't serving up php pages correctly - I get a download prompt rather than the page. From your description though, it sounds more like an HTML question than a PHP one

why are you using layers? problem is
"position:absolute; left:147px; top:188px;"
so when resolution is other than 1024*768, layer remains in same position but right and left side of layout grows

so why don't you just use table??

Great that you ar etrying to use the proper way of laying out sites: css for layout, tables for tables!

you might want to have a look at:

inknoise page for columned page layout with CSS

They have a very good form which will -help you to- create the CSS to build a sectioned page-layout with CSS.

Thank you for the link. I know that this is html but since it has php on it... 😛. Anyways, the server doesn't have php installed on the server yet, which i'm trying to get them to setup.

I don't use tables instead of the layer is because when the section i'm posting things on expands too much, the menus on the right also expand and it looks like junk. So to keep the menus in a fixed position, i use a layer for the main posting. If you have any ideas of how i can stay with the tables while keeps the menus in a fixed position, feel free to help 😃

you do not need (Actually, it is design-wise better not to use) tables!
Just use the CSS for it!

Look at the source: There are no tables in it at al! Al layout is CSS.
